No. The J-channel clamps fit around the vertical edges of the door and grip with removable, double-sided tape— no screws, no tacks. The interior of the clamps is padded to prevent scratches. Completely reversible with zero marks.

The panel attaches via industrial-grade hook-and-loop across a cross-pattern of 4 attachment zones. The shear resistance against a scratching dog is far higher than the peel force needed to remove it by hand. It holds on every dog we have tested so far.
